Glasses

I woke up before Lance did this morning. That was a weird experience.

He was such a good boy yesterday-he went with me to get my eyes examined, and then to the mall to get my new glasses. It took over 2 hours at the mall because they had to tint my sunglasses and he was very patient. We walked around the mall and went into some stores and he did not have any major meltdowns.

The great news was I got to keep my favorite Coach sunglasses…my prescription was not so bad that they could not use my old frames. That made me very happy. Then for my regular glasses I got a pair made by Vogue-they are a really pretty plum colored metal frames with rhinestone flowers near the hinges. My dad helped me pick them out, which was a really funny experience. I was taking pictures of myself in different frames and texting them to my dad. At one point one of the opticians came by to check on me (and bear in mind I am sitting there in Lenscrafters with just the baby in the stroller) and asked how I was doing. I responded with “great-my dad is helping me narrow down my choices.” She gave me this really funny look until I explained that I was sending him pictures over the phone. Then she laughed.

While I was at the mall I decided to go into the Build A Bear store, since Joel never wants to go in there and I love it. They are running a special where you pay 30 bucks and you get any bear, any outfit, and any shoes. Well, while I was in there I saw a little Air Force outfit and a cute little bunny. My father in law is former air force, and my in laws love their pet rabbits. So I am going to have Joel verify for me that it is, in fact, an Air Force outfit and then we will get Lance a little Air Force bunny to represent his grandfather…after all, we have so much Navy stuff…it is only fair that my father in law be represented as well.

This weekend we plan on tackling the weeds in our front garden. Right now there are so many weeds it is nearly impossible to tell what is a weed and what is a legitimate plant. Should be an interesting experience, Joel is also hoping to go see a movie with one of his friends from subschool, and I will get to spend time with the guy’s wife, who I like a lot. So I hope that it works out.

At some point I need to get myself a pedicure, which I have not done since maybe 2 weeks before Lance was born. I also need to get my hair colored-I have not done that since March, and I have some serious grey going on. We have an appointment to get some pictures taken of Lance and probably of us as well in early September, so I absolutely have to get my hair colored by then!! Hopefully I will be able to pull it off. I think if I make the appointment for a time when Lance usually is sleepy he will fall asleep in the car on the way to the salon and then he will sleep the whole time I am there. That is what I did a few weeks ago when I got my hair cut…so I am hoping I can make it work again.

Joel has most of today off, which is really nice. We originally thought that he would have the whole day off but he got a text message late last night saying that some things had been changed and he had to go in for a few hours this afternoon. No big deal…it is nice to spend the time with him but he does have to work and I just feel lucky that he has been able to be around as much as he has been.

Sounds like Lance is waking up, so I will have to write more later!!

glasses, lance
