Transgender Latina Woman Found Murdered, Near Indiana and Cesar Chavez
Streets
San Francisco, CA -- The deceased body of an unidentified Latina transgender
woman was found nude on the sidewalk of the 1600 block of Indiana Street
between Cesar Chavez and Marin Streets at 5:40 A.M. on Friday, March 16th
2007. There were healed scars on both of her arms. The victim was Latina,
slender, had shoulder length dark curly hair, and is about thirty years old.
The Medical Examiner has determined that this is a homicide case.
"I want to know if anyone in the community knows who she is, or had seen or
spoken to her that day. It's very devastating to hear this," said Tina
D'Elia, Community United Against Violence Hate Violence Survivor Program
Director (San Francisco Chronicle March 20th 2007).

Shortly after 8 A.M. that same day, a slender, 5'5'', white female, between
twenty-five and thirty years old, with long reddish blonde hair was seen
hitchhiking nude on Cesar Chavez toward the Highway 101 South Highway. She
was seen getting into a blue car. The SFPD is uncertain if these incidents
are related or if this second woman could be a possible witness.
"THE T/G GIRL FOUND DEAD ON CESAR CHAVEZ AND INDIANA WAS IDENTIFIED
YESTERDAY, IT WAS RUBY RODRIGUEZ, A NATIVE FROM NICARAGUA.
SHE WAS PART OF THE TRANS-PROJECT PROGRAM WHICH IS COORDINATED BY
FERNANDA VALDEZ AND SHE ALSO HAD A CASE MANAGER AT LARKIN STREET YOUTH
SERVICES.
A VIGIL IN REMEMBRANCE OF RUBY IS PLANNED FOR FRIDAY 03/23 AT THE CORNER
OF 24TH AND MISSION FROM 6 TO 7 PM.
