I Forgot my Tandem

She quietly got out of her bed, and sat up right, straining her eyes to detect any sounds. There was none. Relieved, she walked over to another's bed, careful to avoid any possible collisions in the dark.

She contemplated about this for a while, tossing and turning in her bed, she couldn't go to sleep with all those thoughts in her head. She was anxious to rectify this and she knew she had to.

As she slipped into her bed, she saw a slight raising under her shirt, which made her shirt look abnormally puffed up in one area. A pang of guilt hit her as she placed her hand on her shoulder, rendering a stifled cry from the other girl.

It must have hurt a lot...

And Uee knows.

Slowly, Uee retracted her hand, not wanting to hurt the other girl anymore, because though she tried hard not to flinch, Uee could sense the sudden muscle tension in her shoulder upon contact. But it was unintentional. And that was unintentional too.

She just cared too much...

~

"Ya you, you linked arms with a male backup dancer during our live stage!"

"Haha! Why you jealous?"

"Haha! Anyway, congratulations on your stage, you did well."

"Thanks, you did too. Shall talk with you the next time, bye."

And she put down her phone; the sweet conversation still lingering on the curls of her lips. That smile further widened into a megawatt smile when she received a text message saying, "Your smile is beautiful, hope to see you smile more :)"

Well, that was all until she saw Uee, sitting motionlessly at the bed in utter silence. Dense as she might be, she was not as dumb and unobservant to not notice the unhappiness tugging at Uee's heart, which translated into her sharp and penetrating glares. But still, she pretended she didn't know the reason why and shoved her mobile into her pocket, raising Uee's suspicions even more as she asked (or rather interrogated), "Who was that?"

She paused in her step, hesitant to answer, wondering if she should brush that off in spite.

"A friend," she replied, not looking Uee in the eye. She didn't lie though when she said that, but Uee, was obviously, oblivion to this as jealousy crept on her slowly, threatening to take over her rationality.

"It's G.O. isn't it?" Uee smirked.

JooYeon didn't reply. She stopped at the door, debating if she should admit that insidious fact - one that could possibly break her relationship with Uee. But she realized that remaining silent was even worse she very well knew Uee was a very cautious person - one who easily gets suspicious. She couldn't lie to the actress either. For a moment, they both didn't speak.

The silence was never so loud.

~

Uee broke the silence, walking slowly towards JooYeon - the shuffling in her steps hinted at an imminent storm brewing secretly, yet knowingly at the same time. The shorter girl, sensing this, backed away from the advancing brunette, subconsciously in fear. The height difference seemed to be further accentuated by the situation, in a bad way - JooYeon felt like Uee was towering over her.

And that was exactly what the taller girl 'took advantage' of - she reached out her hand and shut the door behind JooYeon, locking it with the ot her hand; the click resonating with the foreboding atmosphere. As Uee stared down at her, she felt a shudder of fear, which, unfortunately, was noticed by Uee as she spoke in a tone heavy with sarcasm, "So, I'm right?.

Before JooYeon could explain, Uee did a violent turn away from her, not wanting to face her. Already on the verge of tears, Uee tried to contain her tears, not wanting to cry, not wanting to be weak, not wanting to surrender to jealousy at situations like these. But she couldn't and JooYeon knew not to blame her as she walked to the taller girl, swerving her by her shoulders to look at her. She brushed away her tears, heartbroken at the sight.

But just then, JooYeon's phone beeped, signaling the arrival of a text message. And they both knew who it was from.

Uee could not help but stare at JooYeon in disbelief, her eyes widening in absurdity. This prompted JooYeon to quickly extinguish the wrath in her girlfriend as she said, "Uee ah, listen we're just-"

"Just what? Lovers? Yeah I get it." Uee replied curtly.

"No Uee, we're just friends!" JooYeon explained, desperate to keep a hold on their relationship.

"Friends? Well he certainly doesn't see you as one, seeing how much he wants to be on We Got Married with you."

"Uee, that's just him and besides, that was so long ago."

"You too! Didn't you say it would be fun to do the show with him?" Uee raged.

"Uee, I-"

"Forget it."

you'll be much better off with him...

And Uee just cut her off ruthlessly, not giving her another chance. As she stomped off the conversation, JooYeon tried to pull her back. Unfortunately, this turned into an unintentional tussle as Uee tried to fling off the girl's hand, resorting to pushing her when she wouldn't let go, and 'thud!" was it when JooYeon was shoved into the cabinet - her shoulder bone colliding just with the knob of the drawers.

Clutching her shoulder in pain, she crumbled to the floor. Uee then realized the severity of the situation and rushed over to her girlfriend, anxiety stressing to break her. And it did, as tears came rolling down her cheek - very tear swearing twice as much as before. Carelessly in the midst of apprehension, she hastily tugged at the material to see the girl's injury, unintentionally hurting her in the process. And the small cry she let out threw Uee in an utter state of panic as she apologized frantically to her.

However, before they knew it, the other members were already knocking incessantly at the door, sensing that something in the midst of them had went wrong. And that was further confirmed when they couldn't open the door, causing Jungah to yell, "Ya you two, what's going on?"

This caught both of them off guard, particularly Uee as she questioned, "Oh no, Joo, what-" to which JooYeon reassured her that it would be alright. Then came the turn of the door knob, and with the rasping of the door, the door bolt open and the members were all shocked to see the aftermath of a jealousy issue.

"What happened? And JooYeon, are you okay?" the concerned omma asked her daughter, knowing she was the casualty just with one look at the situation.

"Yes omma, I, err. just tripped over my own foot."

"Really?" the mother asked, skeptical.

"Yeah, you know I'm clumsy, haha."

But obviously, Jungah saw through this and when she caught JooYeon looking to spot Uee (who left) among the circle of members, she knew.

~

"JooYeon ah, if it's painful, tell me." Jungah said, to which the younger girl didn't reply, but just kept silent. Jungah knew why, and didn't bother the girl further, deciding to perhaps, broach the subject a little later.

She placed a supporting hand on the injured's shoulder, while applying medicated oil with the other on the girl's bruise, which was surprisingly huge and a deep shade of blueish-black. The younger girl, however, neither yelled nor flailed, much to Jungah's surprise. But she saw how hard JooYeon gripped at her bed sheet and bit her lip to avoid throwing a fit and she knew it was painful. This once again prompted the motherly figure to remind her to tell her if it's painful, and again, the girl said nothing but stared into space, seemingly preoccupied. Sighing, the mother continued to foment her bruise, wondering how she could share her burden.

"JooYeon ah.. tell me what happened?"

But the girl couldn't - she didn't know how to say it, and what to say. It wasn't just a jealousy issue - it was more than that and she was tired from thinking about it already, let alone talk about it. And silence was all she could give.

"Hmm? It's okay, unnie knows."

...

"Ya, are you listening to me? Say something!" Jungah yelled, throwing a false rage to snap the girl out of her daze, and intentionally pressing on the girl's bruise ten times as hard, causing her to jerk away from her hands.

"Ya, what was that for?" JooYeon complained, sounding tired at the same time.

"It's painful isn't it? Then why don't you tell me?"

JooYeon paused for a moment, trying to word her feelings but her ever inexpressive self prevented her from doing so. As she pulled up her left sleeve and buttoned up her shirt, she instinctively brushed the spot that just hurt, sighing at the thought of what happened earlier. Albeit she was faced away from her Jungah could definitely tell that the girl was exhausted from the shrugging of her shoulders. Carefully, she whirled JooYeon around, the younger girl yielding in.

"JooYeon ah," Jungah sighed, before continuing, "What happened between you and Uee?"

"We quarreled..." JooYeon murmured, shifting her eyes - unable to face Jungah.

"G.O. called me, and I guess Uee overheard our conversation."

Upon hearing that, the older girl placed a comforting hand on the younger's face, assuring her that things would be fine.

"It's tough JooYeon ah, and you know how insecure Uee can be about this relationship."

"I know, that's why I don't blame her. I just wish she could trust me a little bit..."

"Haha." Jungah let out a hearty laughter.

"Don't worry, Uee loves you."

~

"Don't worry, Uee loves you."

That resounded in JooYeon's mind the whole night as she played back what Jungah said again and again. She wasn't asleep then, and she knew Uee wasn't too, with all the tossing and turning.

When Uee slipped in her bed, she was unsure if she should respond to Uee's actions, or pretend to sleep, but the latter would just worsen the situation, and she didn't have the heart to do so either, not to Uee that is. It was just difficult for her and she wasn't prepared.

was until Uee tried to leave that she quickly grabbed hold of her hand, whispering, "Don't go..."

It was soft, but Uee heard it, and she almost broke down. Going back into her girlfriend's bed again, she whispered, "I'm so sorry..."

But JooYeon said nothing. She merely held onto Uee's hand and placed it around her own waist, tracing words with the other.

'I love you'
