I can't seem to get anything done without a certain amount of background noise. I've tried repeatedly. I've even tried making my own noise, playing the stereo, TV, and some other stuff in the background, but it's not the same.
I need the din of people talking.
Like, say, in a cafe.
Now, there are two immediate problems with this.
First, I don't know of any cafe's in southern Worcester County. The closest one I know of is in Putnam, CT, a healthy 25-minute highway-drive away.
Second, My laptop (which I got for $20. I can't complain... much) doesn't work reliably. I think it's a bad connection in the display, but on the mobo side, rather than on the screen side. Most of the time, the screen won't even come on, and when it does, the system usually doesn't POST. If it gets through that, then it's still susceptible to failure until it switches into graphics mode... and it's still prone to random reboots.
Right, so. Short of complaining like this, or reading LJ posts, how the hell am I supposed to get anything productive done?
On the positive side, I've been getting a lot more idea fragments since I've moved back here. I've just been completely unable to develop any of them AT ALL. I haven't even been writing them down or keeping track of them... whoops.
