Marinated cabbage

This recipe is very easy and cabbage is ready the next day.  It was very yummy.  I got this recipe from Olga Prutkova/Sonkin.  She made this cabbage for the new year celebration and I ended up finishing everything that was left after the party.

I made it too but used 3% vinegar and it was too light.  Michelle really liked it though.  Also, the cabbage packs that I used included some red cabbage and it made the whole dish look pink.  So, if you want your dish to look certain color, for example white, make sure that there is nothing that will add unwanted shade.

2 kilograms of cut cabbage (or 4 packs of cut up cabbage with carrots).

2 onion heads

5-8 garlic claws

1 cup of vegetable oil

1 cup of 9% vinegar (usually sold at Russian store)

Mix it all up  (I used a bucket, but a big pan also could be used).

Boil 2 liters of water, add cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of salt.  Add it into the cabbage mix.

Leave it to stand until next morning and bon appetite!

I also really liked when there was added some cut small pieces of fresh yellow pepper for the aroma.

Enjoy!
