Weekend of papa's jubilee

What a weekend!  Yulya, Grisha, Jacob and Liza came on Friday and stayed at our place.  They were first official guests from out of town in our house.  We had plenty of room for everyone and I really enjoyed the company.  Finally we bought a hide-a-bed sofa for the guests and now need to rearrange our office, turn it into office/guest room.  I was just worried that my guests wouldn’t go hungry.  I hope they didn’t.

On Saturday morning we were preparing for papa’s party, cooking for evening get-together, kids went to the Mall of America with our parents and later Yulya with Grisha went to meet with Grisha’s parents who also came to Minnesota for papa’s birthday jubilee.

In the evening, we invited all our friends, so they could meet with Yulya and Grisha while they are in town plus we celebrated purchase of my new car (обмыли машину).  We had 12 adults and a lot of kids running around.  It was fun.

Next morning we continued to prepare for the jubilee.  Michelle was very cranky for some reason and did not allow me to do anything without her hanging on me.  I was scared that she would do the same at the restaurant.  However, at the restaurant she really enjoyed all of the attention from other people and happily run around with grandparents.

Michael was real gentleman who invited me to dance, even though he didn’t know how to dance.  That was so sweet of him.

I danced Gypsy dance.  I was planning to choreograph it but for the longest time couldn’t pick the right music and then didn’t have time or space to do it.  So, I ended up improvising.  I was worried that the music I ended up using was too long.  However, I danced through and time went very fast.  I would say that my performance wasn’t bad, but could have been better.

The party was great!  Everything we prepared worked out great, guests prepared awesome performance numbers; our dad was in good mood and enjoyed himself.  In the evening when we got home, we watched the video of the party that we recorded on our camera and stayed talking until almost 1am.

I was super tired and knew that I had to wake up early to go to work.  I think Yulya, Grisha and Boris stayed up longer.  With so much going on, this weekend felt like wonderful eternity.

Thanks to _milashka  here are some of the pics from the party.

Now, that this event is over, I need to focus on my presentations at two conferences this month.
