I got the house! Not the first one I bid on that I thought I had, but another one I found a couple weeks ago. It's bigger and better than the first. Now I just wait for escrow to close. Everything else is done. Almost there! but wait, now I have to pay for upgrades...there goes my excitement...and my next 3 checks ( Read more... )

Sounds like we will be relatively close. Ours is off of Rainbow between Vegas Dr. and Lake Mead. So, only about three exits off the 95 or so.

We have to replace some drywall, but probably only about $100 worth, to be done ourselves and a couple of windows. Someone had the foresite, after the first two or three windows were broken, to board the place up. Other than that, asthetically, it just needs some paint and yardwork. Hopefully the inspection won't show anything worse.

You should have seen some of the ones I've looked at. One place had a big sign on the wall asking people not to touch the thermostat...next to a big hole in the wall...What thermostat?

Another had a hole punched in every single wall space availble. You could even see through to the next room. Door had writing on the wall, "Big Man, Way to treat a man and his 11 yr old kid". or something close to that. It's been pretty sad.

What I think are sadder are the ones that are mid-renovation where you can tell the people were working on the house and just couldn't afford it anymore. Walked in one place and the new moldings were leaning against the wall.

We opted not to get into a community. We don't make a lot so we didn't want the extra cost of an HOA. But, congrats. Lucky! My husband would love to have a BWW across the street, but there is plenty in the area. You should try the Aloha BBQ on Decatur and Craig. I went there last night and it was great. Reminded me of my grandmother's cooking.

That's funny, I live off of Rainbow between Vegas and Lake Mead right now! I live across the street from the LVAC but my roommate is going to rent out her house so that's why I jumped on to the home buying craze. I got a good deal so I can't complain.

But, I totally understand what you're talking about. I went to see one that had the duct work coming through the ceiling and had holes in the walls, ceilings, missing windows. The lender just called me earlier today and said that we are paced to close at the end of next week. I went to Home Depot and purchased granite for the kitchen counters and now we just start working on the cosmetic stuff. How much longer before you close?

You seem really excited lately. Lots of use of the exclamation points.

I noticed it gets a different reaction from people. It gets others to use it more. Or maybe I've just been noticing more lately and it changed my philosophy. Dude, I AM excited. I close on the house at the end of next week. I mean...at the end of next week!
