It seemed to me that Jaime got so much less interested in the overt science fiction elements of the story that it's kind of an early misstep. It's not the most interesting stuff he has to say, and I'm guessing he recognized that pretty quickly (though I like some of the far background storylines, e.g. the assasination of Sancho Conrado San Jo).

Not San Jo. Shoot, I can't remember his name. Killed by his female servants.

Yeah, the two young Asian(?) women who never spoke. I don't remember his name either, and I've already put the volume away in a box.

Evan Dorkin followed a similar path in Hectic Planet, which started out being an SF adventure comic, and wound up being about his characters going to parties, hooking up, breaking up, etc.
