It is now officially far enough along to announce to the world that Weezy D and I are now expecting to double the size of our family unit sometime around November. Yes, she is pregnant with twins! Yikes! 2 small humans will be almost entirely dependent on me (and her too) to provide them with nourishment, warmth, shelter, education and love for the next 18 to infinity years!
Some of you may know that we had been trying to achieve pregnancy for several years with little success, other than the benefits inherent in the process. So we visited a local fertility center run by a couple of doctors who happen to be national leaders in the field. After some testing, stabbing with needles, ingesting of various tablets, many blood testings, a couple of ejaculations into sterile cups (yay for new to me porn in "the happy room"), 2 viable embryos were implanted into Weezy D in early March.
About 10 days later, we got a call that the blood test results showed a pregnancy! Woo woo!
Another 2 weeks later, an ultrasound showed 2 developing embryos. Here is a picture of the ultrasound machine taken with my new phone.
A couple of weeks later, another ultrasound showed continued growth on the part of both babies (fetii?) Sorry about the picture quality. The camera in my phone doesn't really do zooming very well. During this session, the US operator showed us the tiny flutter that was each fetus' heartbeat. Cool beyond belief to see.
Last week, this 3rd ultrasound showed the "yolk sacs" inside the dark blobs that are the babies. Still no recognizable shapes, but they are certainly growing. Heartbeats still there and steady at 163 bpm, fetii growing.
Here is a pic of the 3rd US.
We have started looking at baby furniture, twins strollers, and all the other crap you "need" when you have a new infant or 2 in the house. Something that I find annoying is that most of the tandem strollers (made for 2 kids) are NOT designed to accept 2 infants. How stupid is that?!?
Weezy D is learning to drive the MINI to avoid us having to buy another car. I'm sure more news will follow.
