SQUEE!!! SQUEE!! SQUEE!!!

I love SGA! Be All My Sins Remembered was exactly what I needed after a month and a half of grueling studying and exams.  I loved it!

I haven’t been around LJ, except to post my santa assignment and partake in

teylafen 's 12 Days of Teyla. I stil have comments to answer and fic to post, but I just had to say how much I loved BAMSR.

So many great things in this ep, good, easy humour: the 'colonels' scene, Rodney being so self-involved that he forgets that the Wraith is… a Wraith, etc.

I love Ellis’ reaction to Rodney condescension and bullshit. Sure, Rodney's grown as a character since the first season and the horrible person who bickered with orphans who committed suicide at the age of 25. No one doubts his intentions but no matter how nice and sensible, even sensitive(!!!) people choose to write him in fandom, he’s still a prick in canon! (and any real world that could apply to a fictional character.)

He still does wack things like talk down to FOUR experienced military leaders (one of whom is also a physicist), waste their time in a crisis situation because he just can’t say: “I haven’t got it all figured out yet. I think we need a better plan than the one you guys have in mind, but sorry, I just don’t have anything viable just now.” I love that Ellis calls him on it, and I also love that Sam waits till Rodney’s gone to set Ellis straight as to how he should behave on her base.

I also really loved the alliances built in this episode. Not just cause they have a real fleet and I get chills when I see people from all worlds joining up to fight something everyone can see is wrong (Lord of the Rings anyone?) But I really like that SGA visits more moral grey zones than SG1. SG1 saved the world, fought the bad guys and prevailed. But Atlantis makes questionable choices: Michael, the alliance in Allies, the Wraith working with them, etc. It’s not always a good idea but they do what it takes to survive. That’s what made this episode even better: for once Atlantis wasn’t in immediate danger. And though they did create the mess by changing the Replicator base code, ultimately, they’re fighting for the people of Pegasus. They’re doing what Atlantis was always meant to do, even if it means working with Wraith or asking Larrin for help.

And then there’s Ronon. Love him more and more! Him scowling at the Wraith after they got stunned, ordering marines when they got beamed down on the Replicator home world. I adored “Don’t look at me!” and  his suggestion of Ronon as a name for Teyla’s baby, “boy or girl! *reaches up and pinches Ronon’s cheeks, a wide and slightly maniacal grin on my face*

Which brings us to THE scene. SQUEE!!! SQUEE!!! SQUEE!!!

From beginning to end. The careless “shake it off”, Teyla’s look to see if they’re alone, the way they all move closer to talk about it. Rachel was great: Teyla holding her bag in her little hands, in front of her stomach, her "It just happened.” Nice try!

Joe did a great job too with Martin Gero deivering the script (he's tied with Carl Binder in my JT book). First the disbelief and the look at Ronon!  You can actually hear all the pieces falling into place in his mind when she explains her lover isn’t from Atlantis, that it's been three months... He keeps starting sentences then shifting mid-stream until he goes "we’ve been…" and then he just goes on a rant. He latches onto the pretext and lets his anger out: You let me keep you on my team, with me in the field, when you know you were pregnant?! “This is different!” “As of this second…” His departing look...

I am one of those people who take it as a given that John and Teyla have deep, even romantic feelings for each other so I fully accept, that my appreciation of the scene and its importance is somewhat skewed. But John’s anger says it all. At the very least, he does feel bad that he’s unknowingly put her in jeopardy, that she’s betrayed his trust in her because she should know her CO would want her out of harm's way. (uh huh...)

I am liking Carter more and more on SGA. She and John form a great team. She even notices he’s a bit down. I love how she handles her conversation with John in the hallway. She asks why because it’s her job, asks who the father is cause it might be part of her job and then just retreats immediately after she gets it’s not business. She even bites her lip before switching to ‘the latest crazy thing Rodney’s done’. (BTW: someone should really sit him down for a talk: second Replicator he’s made without conferring with anyone!)

Our friends, the Wraith, were present and accounted for. I found the experience of cheering for one kinda disturbing.

Slight insert: I’m wondering at how familiar they’re getting with him. Rodney treats him like a science buddy, John instinctively raises his gun to protect him. There’s reasons to all of it, but still, after Miller's Crossing I wonder they don't try harder to keep their distance. Or it could be part of an attempt to un-demonize the Wraith: they're a race like any other, intent on survival. They even kept their word and left after the battle.

The twist at the end was perfect and totally unexpected. I see so much angst in our SGA future: the guilt, the anger and the moment one of them (I wonder who will be chosen for that character developing, scre

en time inducing moment) will have to take out the RepLizcator. (Tielan’s term, I luv it!) And I have to admit, I'm glad Elizabeth Weir isn't completely gone. I'm quite fond of her.

Oh, and I still love Larrin. Can't wait for her to interact with Teyla...

One minus that kept it for the end: not enough Teyla! We kept hearing how her arc is in S4 and yet… still waiting for more of her. (Well, not literally.)
