I don't know what it is about being in the semester that makes it so hard for me to update regularly. Maybe because a lot of my life become monotonous routine. Still working immunohistochemistry at the internship. Classes are trundling along. My sleep is all messed up. Still wrestling with life decisions. All that good jazz.
Film Appreciation has been an interesting class so far. We've watched The General, Citizen Kane (I now understand every joke ever made about that movie - though it was really a very interesting movie to watch), Rear Window, and North by Northwest. Next we'll be watching The Maltese Falcon.
The semester will also include things like The Godfather and Goodfellas. I'm blanking on what the movie after The Maltese Falcon will be. On my own, I've watched V for my classic approach film critique - in which I did theme. For my auteur approach film critique, I did Baz Luhrmann and talked about directorial style. I haven't gotten that paper back yet, so no idea how well I did. For that, I watched Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge!. I ended up writing about music and color in Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge!. I have to figure out now what genre I want to use for my genre approach film critique and what films within that genre.
