So, I had an interesting day.
I attended a Women's Senate Network (
http://www.dscc.org/wsn/) fundraiser at lunchtime in Cambridge. Claire McCaskill would make great Senator and I hope any Missouri folks vote her in to office. (

Nationally, we are only six seats away, so McCaskill and others are being outspent by the republicans. You don't have to live in a contested state to be involved in changing the guard. It was amazing to be surrounded by people in MA working to get a women elected on the other side of the country. We *need* more women in office.
I wonder if we shouldn't move towards some kind of quota system in the US. We insist that developing democracies have x number of women represented in government. It's about time we see some of that parity here rather than this patriarchy.
President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf just happened to stop by. Wow, I'm inches away from Liberia's President taking in some of our democratic process. She made a few well-chosen comments before the crowd. I can't really find the right words to describe the visceral reaction I had to looking upon this woman president. I loved it. It felt right and good.
