Finally Finished a Story!
FINALLY!
I got my extremely overdue writing assignment turned in. I had to finish a story I had written a synopsis for fall of last year and write a synopsis for two other stories. I also had to choose two potential magazines to send those synopsis stories out to.
Thanks to:
* trying to start a new business for the better part of last year
* getting a root canal and being bedridden for several days because of the initial infection, thanks to snow in Portland
* being very sick on two separate occasions (one of which had me bedridden for a week, the second for almost two weeks)
* spending two weeks visiting family all over the country
* madly trying to get some work completed that was long overdue, plus bringing in much needed income
* trying to get some semblance of order, happiness, and health back into my life
* and a complete lack of inspiration or love for writing promoted by all of the above factors
I was unable to finish it for way too long. I'm ashamed, but also relieved to be done with it.
I think it is likely longer than the assignment was going for, but since they did not express a specific word count this time (that I could find), I decided not to harp on it too much. I made it however long it was asking to be, I cleaned it up, and maybe later it will decide to ask to be shorter. Or my instructor may request I reorganize it entirely.
I hated the story two days ago, but I am fairly pleased with it at this point. Maybe one day I will realize I always have the same feelings mid-story and should just learn to ignore myself.
And I promise not to make so much chaos to distract me and keep me from writing the next story, okay?
