The irony here is that these movies ARE stupid crowd-pleasers; it's his brainwashed fans who try to turn it into something more than it is by hand-waving away the bounding cliches from the guy who writes the same characters, dialogue, and plot twists into his each of his stories. Only someone this deluded about their favorite writer, and ignorant of the broader genre, would count this cliche-touting hack as a 'deconstructionist'. Yes, he's such a deconstructionist they already have a name for it when characters "get Whedoned". All his stories read like:
1) lithe teenage girl killing machine bon mots while beating up monsters
2) kill beloved character suddenly
3) profit!
Hey, you know what cliches DO need a good deconstruction? The works of Joe Whedon!
