Where did I read this?
It was something like this: among the devastating effects of having talked in response to torture, there is not just the fact that one has told secrets meant to be guarded, that one has betrayed one's comrades; there is also the flattening of one's own speech: everything comes forth, the useless, the useful, the secret, the known, it is all vomited forth like one substance.
