History
Daimon Hellstrom is the son of Satan and a human woman. His father took the guise of a man, married a young woman named Victoria (a civil marriage not performed in a church or by a priest) and lived with her for several years. They had two children, Daimon and Satana. All was normal until Victoria walked in on her husband and their daughter about to perform a satanic ritual. Satan revealed himself to his wife, driving her mad, and left. Daimon and Satana were separated and sent to foster homes. Later Daimon was enrolled into a parochial school and afterwards attended seminary, studying to be a priest. As he grew older his temperament changed. The slightest trigger sent him into a volatile rage. When he turned 21 and read the diary of his mother, Daimon learned the truth about his parentage. He left seminary and became a world renowned exorcist and demonologist.
Daimon took a position teaching at divinity at a college. He took a leave of absence to aide the Defenders. With the Defenders he fell in love with a fellow teammate, Patsy Walker, otherwise known as Hellcat.
Using various nefarious methods, Satan transformed Hellcat into a form more fitting of her name, a red skinned she-devil. He brought her to hell, knowing that her teammates and his son would follow. While there he claimed that Patsy was really his daughter and Daimon’s sister. To save his teammates, Daimon battled his father. Losing the battle, Dr. Strange unleashed Daimon’s dark soul, giving him enough power to fight longer. He was defeated but Satan spared him. Now a monster, Daimon remained in Hell with his father and Satan returned Patsy Walker to normal and sent the team back to earth.
Satan and his demons worked for months to purge Daimon of the goodness in his soul but they failed and Daimon returned to Earth, rejoining the Defenders. Hellcat had also taken a leave from the Defenders, finding her real father so she could prove to herself that she was not, in fact the daughter of Satan and that Satan’s claim was merely a lie (it was). When she returned Daimon confessed his love for her but Patsy was not sure of her feelings. Daimon lashed out in despair and flew away. He went back to the college he taught at and discovered a demon had taken on his identity and lived as him. What was worse, he was enjoying life far more than Daimon ever had, marrying and expecting a child. Though the demon changed names and dropped the impersonation to establish his own identity, Daimon was tormented by the realization that he did not know who he was. He tracked down his mentor from his years at seminary and sought his advice. He became one of the monks at a monastery. And that is the cut off from where I’m pulling him. No more after that.
Powers
Daimon can channel his own energy into blasts of “soulfire.” Soulfire attacks both the spirit and the body (as well as objects). It does not spread like normal fire but it does burn and can reduce objects to ash if intense enough. He has created barriers with soulfire that prevent people from entering, causing them extreme agony if they do (he cannot do this on the meatship).
Point of clarification: Soulfire is not physically harmful unless he wills it to be but it does sting like crazy.
He has a healing touch that has revived people from comas, near death, as well as an instance where he healed a headache. He did not use it to heal physically harmed teammates. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that his healing powers only affect the devout or those who strongly believe in something metaphysical. He can’t perform it very often. One or two major healings (from coma provided that the body has recovered) per day, if not over several days. Perhaps four to five minor ones over several days. This is something that takes a great deal of effort and can’t be forced easily as it’s a very taxing power.
He has accelerated healing. Nothing near Wolverine but if he has a superficial cut it will heal over within a few hours, a deeper cut will take maybe 8 or so, and so on.
The rest of his powers are tied into his trident. The trident is made of netheranium, mined by demons from the depth of Hell, it is one of the few items that can harm demons. By focusing his powers through the trident he can more effectively use his soulfire to harm others. He can focus his soulfire to blast from the trident even if he’s not holding it. He can also sense psychokinetic “vibrations” giving him the power of psychometry (the ability to see into the past of on object- on the meatship this will only give him fleeting images of a person or object's past). He has a natural “spider sense” of sorts for the supernatural and the trident amplifies this. Because of the meatship's creepy factor, this is basically dinging all the time for him.
Daimon can fly if he so desires but only while holding the trident.
He can, of course, exorcise demons. This is your standard exorcist stuff but with an otherworldly twist. Daimon takes a more direct approach by threatening and confronting the demon until it leaves.
Power downgrades:
His soulfire remains at about the same level or have it scaled back some into being very painful to anyone but can’t affect objects or create barriers.
Healing touch that can heal minor wounds as well as waken people from comas as long as the body has recovered.
Demonic exorcism (I doubt this will have to be used but you never know)
Flashes of images and feelings when trying to probe the history of objects and people.
If he has his trident then soulfire and psychometry will be easier for him. But he cannot move through time, move through space to the trident when it is touched. He will be able to fly (or not, I don’t care either way) while holding it.
The downgrade in powers can be explained in that he’s more or less traveling between dimensions so there’s little energy for him to harness and use, farther from his father’s domain and such.
Also I forgot it when I was writing the app but canonically he's ten times stronger than most men but on top of all those powers it's just ridiculous so that's also getting explained away with the above.
Also of note:
-On earth, Daimon could transform into the Son of Satan by thrusting three fingers into the air. On the meatship this does not summon his clothes or trident to him but it does bathe him in soulfire (very creepy).
-The more his darksoul gains dominance over him, the more Daimon resembles a demon. When it controls him entirely his head erupts into flame.
-Daimon has a birthmark in the shape of an inverted pentacle on his chest. Your character is more than welcome to mistake it for a tattoo. I find it very amusing, even if Daimon does not.
