Surveys

Surveys are loaded with opinions, untruths and non-facts. Is the glass half full or half empty? Not sure, how would it benefit me or the media frenzy at this time? Facts can and will be changed. A hundred percent can mean ALL, complete, done or finished. But 50% can mean halfway there, only halfway, not even close, barely even started and so on. ( Read more... )

You got ost of the problem in your second paragraph:
"take into account honesty and reliability of those being polled"
You dont know who your talking to, we want to trust people so we do. Too many con artist are out there. And some of it isnt a lie its just interpretation. In one car accident involving 2 people how many different stories would you get? About 20 (thats plus or minus 20 either way). because of bystanders and other people that caught a glimpse of what happened.

Here is a good example of a bullshit survey:
Go to most any High school and ask one question...Have you ever tried sex?
Answers:
1. The person says no and truthfully is a virgin.
2. The person says no and has only had oral (ask Clinton).
3. The person says no and is a freak. Because either its none of your business or they want to keep their reputation.
4. The person says yes and actually considers oral as sex.
5. The person says yes and has never touched the opposite sex. Again its none of your business or they are bragging.
The truth? The world will never know and what of it. Why do we need to know all these averages?. We dont, but we allow the media to bring us awe inspiring news so we know what the average rainfall for Africa is, or how many suicides happened this month, teen runaways (if they ran away how are you counting them?), drunk driver deaths (this is affected by lawyers) and many other falsities. Blah blah blah...Im done!
