World of Warcraft

Well, I let this game sap all my time. People probably know how that happens, you delve deeper and deeper, you play longer and longer, to an extent that you are not interested about real life anymore.

I quit!

Hah, there, I said it. I feel lighter.

While all the blame's on me for playing it longer and longer, I do have something to say about Blizzard.

Quoting from a friend of mine's short story, "Millions upon millions convulse in pain and hatred at what they have missed.. what they have lost forever when they were engaged in their endless farming sessions... When hours turned to weeks, weeks to months, months to years... Lifetimes of wasted opportunities... grinding...

Millions upon millions of level 1 gnomes and dwarves start a silent march toward the small figure standing in the middle of Ironforge.."

Now, I expected grinding from Blizzard, they learned it from former developers of Diablo, and Tigole learned how to make it more fun than just killing stuff, mostly (I'm looking at you, Silithus).

However, raids (I've killed C'thun and ran around in Naxx pre-TBC; killed a few bosses in SSC in TBC), reputation (ground Earthstrike pre-TBC as a solo warrior; ground nether-wing rep solo as a prot warrior), craftables (third person in the server to have deep thunder), everything I did had zero incencitive to turn the game off at some point. Lets grind HH rep, lets grind some WSG honor, lets get some arena points, lets do this, do that, do this, do that....

I remember the days I've sat down and roleplayed. There was one urge I had in those days, and that was to have fun. Afterwards, my urges became complicated, 'let's log on and do some more questing' I said, 'I want to complete my dungeon set' I said, 'I want to get attuned ffs, I'll give them gold if I have to' I said.

Well, in the end, I let a whole year and a bit more of my life to slip away from my hands and gone to waste. I wasted it. No one else. I've lied, I've spent ludicrous amounts of money to play the game in stupidest conditions - like taking a cab to an internet cafe, etc etc.

Unlike it's chemical counterparts, however, internet addictions have lesser adverse effects on the body after you quit.

Well, there it goes. I donno if anyone's still even checking this page, but meh. Expect to see more rants.
