21

Given that it's a perfectly beautiful day (low to mid 70s late morning with 40% humidity), I decided it would be the day to go downtown to Mary Washington and cross my alma mater off the list.  It's also  Lindsay Lohan's 21st birthday, which makes my 21st shotglass even more appropriate.

Given that it's me, it was not that easy.

First, summer session #2 is in progress.  I had an impossible time finding a parking space by the new bell tower, which while pretty, is still useless.  I park down the street a ways.  I zip through campus, past the psych building and Ball Circle (Washington's mother was Mary Ball Washington, so save the jokes - not because they're not funny but I guarantee you that I've already made them or heard them at graduation held there) where I see adirondack chairs like at Swarthmore and the little tree tags.  My school has no right to be that pretentious.

I get to Lee Hall, home of the bookstore and admissions department.  It's surrounded by a huge white wall and I remember that they're renovating the building.  I immediately fear that Mary Washington could become another Rutgers.  I keep walking towards Trinkle, my former home and I notice a large trailer with Bookstore banners on it and sigh in relief.  Nothing dramatic after that.  The glass is sitting here with me now.

Self 2 note:  Take nothing for granted.  Always do your research for bookstore locations and hours prior to departure.

I then proceeded to cross off two (2) sandwiches from the list at Olde Towne Deli by splitting a pair with mom.  Talk about progress.
