Against my better judgment, I'm going to watch parts of the Emmys tonight because of the Emmy Idol thingy. I'm a sucker for singing, especially when it's the only time I'll hear any mention of Veronica Mars and Kristen Bell.
I have three big problems with the Emmys. First, they don't recognize much of anything on the WB and UPN. And to be fair, most of the stuff on those stations is abominable. But that makes actresses like Lauren Graham and Kristen Bell and shows like Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars shine even more. Second, they continue to nominate shows that are past their time. Maybe I'm pissy because I never cared for Everybody Loves Raymond at all, but still shows like Will and Grace and The West Wing are getting nominations for seasons that were just very, very bad. And third, they attempt to fit shows into either comedy or drama when there are more than a few shows out there that don't really belong with the 30 minute sitcoms or the hour long dramas, like Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives.
I'd love to see Scrubs walk away with something, but it won't happen. I'm just glad it managed nominations since NBC abuses the poor show. But I'm not really invested in any of the categories save lead dramatic actor where Hugh Laurie best walk/limp away with it for House.
Oh, The Daily Show should get something too, even though I'm usually too preoccupied to remember to watch it.
