If you're on the alumnae news mailing list you already got links to these articles, but I thought I'd mention some of them here.
The chapel is being dedicated at Alumnae Weekend. The pictures look beautiful, but it would be awesome to have some pictures of the event if anyone here is attending. Does anyone know what happened to the old chapel window? I had heard that it was "rescued" from the demolition of the old student center. For those of you who weren't on campus during the brunt of the "master plan," the college didn't really put a lot of thought into preserving any parts of the old buildings. Out near the track they piled up all the cornices and keystones and whatnot from the buildings they tore down. Something was supposed to be done with the old bits of masonry, but I've no idea what. I just remember stumbling around them in the dark on our way to astronomy lab (the observatory was being renovated, too, so the telescopes were stored in the facilities building and we set them up in the middle of the track). They could've sold pieces to alumnae, I bet, if they had tried. I'd love to have a piece of ASC in my backyard.
Art window in the new science building to be dedicated in memory of Beth Griffin '97. She died shortly after graduation due to an infection by a rare Herpes virus she contracted in the course of her studies at Yerkes.
A new "society" for alumnae who donate to the college. (There are tiers of giving so that people who give a lot of money stand out from the rest.) This society, though, doesn't base membership on how much you give but by how regularly you give. Donate at least once a year for three years, any amount, and you become a member.
Agnes Scott student All-American for swimming-- I confess I don't understand the "All-American" title, but yay!
