Avengers Thoughts: Round 2

So, my roommates AND my boyfriend are out of town this weekend, which means I have the apartment all to myself, which means it's time for one of my bi-annual or so "Weekend of Me!"s. As much as I love my BF and my roommates (you know who you are :P), it's really fun to occasionally just spend a weekend chilling with myself ( Read more... )

1) That sucks :/

2) I was shocked that the audience was at least as into this week as last week. I hold out vague hope that Avengers will eventually overtake Avatar was highest grossing film ever. Or even just topple Titanic. Probably not, but it would be so cool.

3) The thing that makes this movie so good is how for newcomers, I feel that it describes things quite well, and yet for veterans it provides adequate backstories as well as the action scenes.
Yes! I more-or-less fall into the newbie category. I've never read a comic book, and while I've seen the other movies once, I don't remember them all that well (something I'm looking to rectify this weekend). Obviously, I loved it. On the flip side, some of my real-life friends are hardcore Marvel-verse fanboys and they liked it at least as much as I did. It definitely manages to appeal to all SORTS of people, too -- fandom types who are going to go home and write fic, comic fans who are going to go home and re-read their fave Avengers comics, casual movie viewers who are just going to tell their friends to see it, etc.

4) I'm ALL OVER Science Bros like whoa, but I definitely see the appeal of superhusbands, too. I think once my initial "give me ALL the Tony/Bruce fic" urge dies down I will expand my reading habits more, because there is so much awesome to explore with this cast.

I love how Tony pokes Bruce and Steve is like, "C'MON".
Yes. I really enjoyed the dynamic of all three of them. After all, Steve is also respectful of and kind to Bruce in his own way -- it's just a more cautious way because duh. I think there's a lot of interesting stuff to explore there any way you ship it.

this is just too cute and their ride after the movie = I can't help but to ship this.
Yeah. That car ride sealed the deal for me on first viewing. FLAILING EVERYWHERE. Even if one just looks at it as friendship, that was a great moment. It would have been so easy/logical to show Bruce driving off on his own, I feel like the choice to have him get into Tony's car was very deliberate -- a confirmation that the quick friendship they built over the course of the movie is for reals, you know? Love it.
