This might be the only show where I have a slight preference for episodic episodes (takedowns are just damn FUN) over arc-y episodes. I agree. Well, I'm not sure if I prefer them, but it's definitely one of the few shows where episodic episodes can be as exciting for me as arc-y ones -- Doctor Who is the only other example I can think of off the top of my head.
I think the reason why I have trouble shipping Emily/Nolan is because it would be so *bad* for Nolan Fair enough! While I think their relationship could become slightly more balanced if she ever admitted to herself she cared about him, I would never disagree that their relationship wouldn't always be imbalanced, and heck, even their friendship is pretty bad for Nolan in a lot of ways. I think this just comes down to personal preference -- I LOVE me some dysfunctional, co-dependant, and otherwise fucked up ships. (There's a reason why, although I think Spuffy eventually developed into something beautiful good for both of them after Spike got a soul, Season 6 Spuffy will always be my favorite.)
think it's clear she at least likes him and may not have originally intended to. Oh, I definitely agree with that, I just don't think she sees him in a romantic light at all. But she definitely cares about him in a way she never meant to.
What do you make of the flashback of when Emily first "met" him? I wasn't quite sure what it suggested of her first impression I think he was supposed to come off as pompous and privileged and kind of ridiculous -- just another rich kid trying to be ~cool.~ I think her knowledge of what went down with that waitress cemented that idea -- but, of course, she learned that he's a much better person than she thought.
I'm sure it's not *over* yet and Daniel will still now have some sneaking suspicions down the line that he didn't have before, but it's definitely more subtle than I was hoping for I agree with this. In general, Episode 16 was only okay for me. I assume prison will help mess Daniel up, though, which is good. I could see myself liking him a lot if only he would grow a damned backbone.
