This is for a stamping/sorting meme at
community_tv. Feel free to ignore it if you you aren't involved, though anyone who knows Community is invited to weigh in (this thing is just for fun), or if you want to know more about me, read on...
1)Would you prefer to be stamped as a specific gender? Don't care!
2)Name: I generally go by agnes or agnes_bean on the interwebs.
3)Age: 23 (holy fuck, when did that happen?)
4)Location: NYC
5)Describe your personality in five words: Friendly, ambitious, passionate , geeky, interested
6)Share a picture yourself or write a description of your physical appearance: 5'7", dirty blonde, a little chubby, long legs, sharp nose. Dress like a New Yorker who cares enough about style to make an effort, but doesn't care enough to be very uncomfortable.
7)Favorite color: Blue
8)Favorite and least favorite movie:
Favorite: Memento for plot and general awesomeness, in filmmaking. The Princess Bride for sentimental reasons
Least favorite: I'll go with October by Eisenstein. Because damn it, I get why it's important and that montage is interesting, but that doesn't mean I had to be forced to watch it twice (maybe thrice?) over the course of my academic career. Except apparently it did.
Runner up right now goes to Inception, which is a perfectly fine film, except that Christopher Nolan made it, and Christopher Nolan making a film about dreams should have resulted in something more interesting than that. (Sorry anyone who loves it).
9)Favorite book: World of Wonders by Robertson Davies (in a very close race with What's Bred in the Bone, also by Davies).
10)Favorite quote: I hate this question. I always feel like I've forgotten the best ones. But I'll go with:
"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move." -- Douglas Adams
(Though I also want to give a shout out to
this speech by Nathan on Misfits, which hands down wins best speech -- sorry Jeff! But it's too long to really be a quote).
11)Who is your inspiration in life (it can be anyone real or fictional, ther’s no limit): My history teacher from high school, who was once the head of our state's ACLU, and the head of the film department at my college, who helped in the academic movement that legitimized Film Studies and built our film department from scratch to being very well respected in the film community. Both of these people, in their different ways, grabbed life by the balls and did what they wanted in the face of the world telling them they couldn't or shouldn't. I'm bad at that, and wish I could be better, and they are my inspirations.
12)What do you do for living? Do you study? I'm a writer/editor at a pop culture news website. I graduated college with a BA in Film Studies and the equivalent of a minor in Religion.
13)What do you like to do in your free time? Consume media (mostly books and tv, also movies), take dance classes, hang out with friends, play board games. Sometimes all at the same time (except the dancing...)
14)Do you have any special talents? Apparently I have the magical ability to ensure that whenever I'm on a train, the announcement system in my car does not work. It's a pretty crappy super power.
15)Favorite animal: Cats!
16)How would you describe your experience as a student? Were/are you good at studying? I was a very good student in terms of grades. It's a point of pride for me that I only ever had one final grade below an A- in college (It was a B+), and I'm still not over not getting Phi Beta Kappa even though I totally qualified (*bitter muttering*). But I wasn't overly dedicated -- I was pretty good at doing the least amount possible to still know what was going on and do well, unless I really loved the class. But I could study well when required, and I was very good at writing papers.
17)Do you have a religious belief? I believe there is no god. I phrase it that way on purpose: I'm an atheist based not on logic but on a gut feeling. (That said, I am culturally Jewish and although I rarely go to temple -- and rarely went as a kid -- that is a part of my identity).
18)something else you would like to add: FWIW, despite my deep love of pop culture, I don't actually think I'm an Abed. But feel free to vote me that way if that's what you think!
