I remember that my first contact with native speaker in day to day life happened by phone and that was an australian. I understood nothing and was killed with my level of English. Two days after I understood that I'm not that bad and there's something with Australians.
But still. I kept silence for a long long time. But alchohol learned me to speak fluently.
