Not too much to report - just too much entertainment in the last week. It started with Stones in his Pockets, a play about an American film company filming in Ireland. Of course, they want the hokey stereotypes, while the locals are a lot more modern. But still ordinary folk down on their luck (one had a video store that went bust, another

after that bit of information was imparted, i would note that i am working on open source projects these days, if we were having a conversation on the lubbergernal electronic virtual chatboard. (too bad we aren't!) i am on the sflphone, portaudio, and openwengo mailing lists. i want to learn about voip, sip, and related technologies. i haven't done anything productive on any of them yet, because i'm not up to speed. i'm hoping this will get me the kinds of contacts i need to get hired doing something that won't bore me to tears.
i had such a good time getting to know my cyber-niece filly05 over thanksgiving that i am forcing myself not to think about it too much. i don't want to get all creepy and weird. i guess this means i need to get some more kids in my life.

i still think i'll eventually "grow up," although i'll be getting a late start. it was before i friended you, but i wrote a friends-only story not too long ago featuring a dental assistant with a pair of adorable 3-year-old twins who was hitting on me pretty hard. i wouldn't have minded being their stepdad at all, if i'd had more in common with their mom.
any ideas on another open source project i can join? i'm still trying to get stuff done on all three of the ones i'm in, but progress is very slow, and at times i've felt all of them might well be a dead end.

Open Source? Well, you do know BeOS so there's lots of stuff you could help out with in the Haiku project. But it could go nowhere, or succeed brilliantly. You could also check the SourceForge ratings by activity and user base size, perhaps finding some popular telephony related one to make your name in.
Incidentally, a few jobs have opened up at Artech - we're looking for two programmers, two artists and one project coordinator.
