On Holiday

Oct 10, 2004 23:19

On Friday morning I woke up around 6 to get ready to drive down to L.A. to catch my plane to Portland, Oregon. I met Garret for coffee around 7, and drove down listening to Postal Service 40 minutes later. Got home to L.A. around 8:45 and checked my flight information to find that my flight leaves at 1:35, not 12:35 like I thought! LAME! Had a good convo about art and photography with my mom's boyfriend until my dad picked me up around 10:30 to take me to the airport. Got to the airport a little after 11, and got to my gate where I waited for about 4 hours because my flight got delayed till about 3:45. LAME! Finally got on the plane and fell asleep watching the commentary for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The parts that I was awake for it sounded good! YAY!
Got to Portland, couldn't wait to get outside because it was raining and it felt soooo good to stand in the cold! Jack picked me up in he roommate's orange ford explorer. AWESOME! Spent the last few days in downtown Portland shopping, hanging out at Jack's boyfriend's house after it almost partially burned down, which happens to be a block away from the Fight Club House, which RULES! It was the house that the author wrote the book about. so RAD! We had some fun in Jack's dorm room too. These girls put up really ugly cut-out pictures for bathroom-related products, so we tore them down, which was really fun. Someone stole Jack's conditioner so we made a missing sign and put it up in there too. This was Friday night. As of tonight, the torn-down pictures were fished out of the trash can and put back up on the walls, with a note saying not to do it again. hahha. We rule. We bought cigars to smoke on Jack's birthday, but we got too tired and it's too cold to go outside to smoke them now. I'll guess we'll have to save them for another time. For her birthday dinner we went to this awesome restaraunt called Montage which is underneath the freeway. We waited an hour to be seated, but were entertained for a while by this homeless guy listening to music on his headphones and doing high kick-dances in the middle of the street while singing along loudly to the Beatles. AWESOME! This place was known for it's delicious mac and cheese, they have all different kinds. It was pretty good, but the best part about it was having leftovers to take home because they wrap it up in tin-foiled art pieces. I got a scorpion, Jack got a snail, Kelley got a sword, Hailey got a crab, and Virginia got a deformed swan, haha. There was a really hot guy who worked there - damn he was hot. That really made my night when he helped me figure out the atm machine. HAHA. YES!
It's been a lovely trip, the weather was beautiful, but waaaay too cold for me. Which is definitely one of the main reasons I couldn't live here. But the town and the houses and places I've been have so much character, that it's been a nice change from Santa Barbara. I've officially been cold all weekend long, and I think I'm getting sick :( So I can't wait to get back to the warmth of Santa Barbara.

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is going to court on Wednesday for my MIP :( Steve I hope you still want to come with me! I'd really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know it's super early, but I promise I'll make it up to you!

So I have to wake up at 4 to catch my flight tomorrow at 6 in the bloody morning. It's still gonna be dark when I get up, which I'm having issues with, but I'll have to deal with. I have to pack.

Sorry this is long, I tend to not read journal entries that are really long, I hope it was intersting - my weekend of fun in Portland.

Goodnight,
<3
