Two facts:

May 13, 2007 08:59

1) There has been water pouring off my roof for at least the last 14 hours. I called my landlord last night when I noticed it, and he groggily said, "I'll get someone out there in the morning." No action yet. I wish the elusive "someone" who will be coming would hurry up, because if my roof caves in it's really going to F-up my plans. Also, it's supposed to be like 103 today, so it would be really great to have my swamp cooler working.

2)Watching John McCain makes me feel slightly nauseated. And nervous. I watched him on "meet the press" this morning (I was up and dressed early in case the swamp cooler guy came) and it wasn't good. It was bad. Very bad. I wish I'd written down the way he said something... Tim Russert kept catching him contradicting himself, and he'd say things like "I haven't changed my mind... I've adjusted my reality..." or something. I could probably find the transcript online. (Er, it appears the transcript isn't posted yet.)

Especially nervousness-inducing comments included abortion talk (he wants to do everything he can to help those women give birth, give life, and bring the babies into this world) and his very interesting logic on alternative fuels... like, they're only a good idea now because oil is so expensive. When Russert was quoting a 2003 statement from McCain about how he did NOT support alternative fuels, McCain basically said that it was because we didn't have such an oil shortage and high oil prices then. Um, ok.

And there was of course lots of self-congratulatory talk about being able to "cross party lines" and how he always does what he believes is right and yadda yadda. Anyway.

Come on, swamp cooler guy. Come on, roof, be strong.
