From time to time Charlotte Charles found herself falling asleep at her job. It was not often, but it was occurring at a much higher rate than she would have liked. Having sat down to wait for the cake she had baked that morning to cool, the clean up done and the dinner preparations not yet started she had settled down in the over stuff arm chair. The book she had brought with to read had fallen by the wayside and was currently sitting on the floor next to her footstool.
It was the sound of someone opening a cabinet not too far from where she sat that woke her from her nap. A bit embarrassed that it had happened in the first place, she straightened up with a start.
"Hello," she said, smiling at the girl before stifling a yawn. There always was a side-effect for going from sleep to wide awake in such a manner. Gesturing towards the cooling cake, she waited until her yawn was finished before continuing. "There will be cake. Shortly."
