Waking Up

Kim's sitting by a lake. 'The lake outside the bar' she knows instinctively. A dark haired woman sits next to her and puts her arm around her shoulder.
"Mom," She wraps her arms around her, "You're back."
Teri brushes the hair off her face but doesn't say anything.
"My memories of the bar...of things that happened here, they're real?"

Elaine has a tray, with tea and toast and juice on it. She balances it with one arm on her hip and knocks with the other.

Always practical, is our Elaine. She has an idea that Chris and Kim might be a little hungry by now.

Chris answers the door and lets Elaine in.

Kim looks up at the blonde haired woman.

[maid_of_astolat]

"Good morn, Chris...Kim. I thought you both might be a little hungry...or at the least, thirsty, so I brought some things." She turns to Kim. "Hullo, Kim. Do you remember me?" She keeps her voice quiet and gentle.

Kim looks rather strange with red hair.

Her memories are returning. She doesn't remember everything but she knows her name. "Elaine?"

Elaine smiles. "Yes, that is me. How are you feeling? Do you need anything to drink or eat? I have tea, juice and toast here. I figured you mightn't want anything too heavy."

"I should probably eat."

[maid_of_astolat]

Elaine brings her toast and tea, and places it on the bedside table.

"We were so terribly worried about you and Christine, and we're so very glad you're both back safe and sound."

Well, 'sound' may be debatable, but 'safe' is true enough.

Kim reaches out and takes a bite of toast. She notices her hand's shaking her eyes are watery.

Elaine sees it as well. "Everything is going to be all right, Kim," she says gently. "Do you need to talk or anything?"

[agirllost]

She shakes her head. "I...I saw him..."

[maid_of_astolat]

"Who did you see?" She keeps her voice very soft and even.

[agirllost]

"He couldn't get away and I couldn't move and..."

[maid_of_astolat]

Elaine doesn't want her to become agitated. "Oh, sweeting," she said softly, patting Kim's arm gently. "I am sorry...some things no one should have to see."

She doesn't quite know how long it will take for Kim to be able to accept that her father is not dead. And then she realizes how utterly mad that sounds.

"They were going to kill me and I was so scared but I couldn't feel scared..."

Elaine just nods, and pushes hair out of Kim's face. If Kim wants to talk, she'll just let her.

[agirllost]

She can't blink away tears, they're falling and she can't stop them. "I knew I was in danger but they..." she touches her right arm.
