SB Flyers, 21 weeks and Happy Dog

I thought I should probably get a post up about last weekend's trial, before the 3 day marathon that starts tomorrow.  ;-)  Vic was 10 for 10 last weekend, such an awesome boy.  It all just feels so easy with Vic, I know the information he needs and I know he'll do the right thing with it.  He is my agility soulmate.  :) It was hot, the footing wasn't great (I literally had a gopher pop out while I was leading out one of the days), I didn't find the courses particularly challenging and the small show took too long, but I decided it was an opportunity to work on my mental management. I had moments of distraction, but no back patting while running and I guess I'm more functional when criticizing myself on a course, than telling myself I did something good.  ;-)  We picked up a Grand Prix bye with a very nice run, so we have the bye for Bay Team!  Hooray!

This weekend is 3 days of USDAA.  I'm tired just thinking about it, but then I don't show again until Bay Team's 4th of July show, so a nice break.  My goals are going to be the same this weekend, stay present with Vic and make sure to keep contact criteria, because that's really starting to slip.  Not that I'm concerned with him missing at this stage, but clarity is good and things are getting more vague than I'm comfortable with.  ;-)

This week with the pack and the puppy, I think I've finally done a better job balancing puppy Rich's needs and Vic's.  Vic still seems grumpier than in the past and I am thinking he may not be keeping his balls much longer, but he is happier with me and with his place with me and that's what really matters.  He's far too special to me, for him to feel like the puppy has taken his place.  Rich is always going to make sure he gets his fair share of attention.  He is such a fun puppy!   He has decided that the fun place to take toys is behind the couch cushions and will be back there like a little kid with a fort.  I wish I was able to capture his sweet side on camera, so you'll have to take my word for his sweetness.  He is really a lovely puppy, spicy, happy, loving and naughty.  Really couldn't ask for anything more.  We started playing around with bang game a few weeks ago, after he followed Vic up a teeter and jumped off when it tipped.  He didn't seem scared, but since I started bang game with Vic around this age, I figured I'd get started with Rich.  Here's a terrible video of it, maybe next week I'll get a better video of what Rich can do...

We did a very lazy measurement on him last weekend and he's somewhere between 17" and 18", but I swear he's grown again.  His grandperson Rob is one of the judges this weekend, so I'm going to ask him to measure him one of the days.  Rich's tail continues to be it's own life form.  I've named it Scorpio.  The ears haven't changed, if anything they appear more committed to staying up and when I looked today it appears all his puppy teeth have fallen out.  :-(  My puppy is growing up way too fast!

Here's the most recent pack pic from Thursday.

Contact proofing starts young...

Why is my puppy starting to look like a dog?!?!?!

And stolen from Angela, Rich's breeder with the amazing camera skills, here is a recent pic of the 3 sisters.
