[ So then he starts poking

[ There is no way to prove he is real unless he... Pikachu puts his device down and aims it so that it is looking at a piece of furniture. One finished, his cheeks spark, and then he shocks the furniture for a few seconds. The furniture is burnt afterward. ]

Okay, there's one thing Alex can think of that might prove whether Pikachu's just a clever bit of computer animation. He puts his hand up in front of the communicator, waving it left and right, wondering in a mushed-brain kind of way whether Pikachu will respond.]

[ Pikachu watches the hand move and assumes he's doing the hello wave, so he waves back. ]

[His default reaction to this mansion and everything about it has been suspicion bordering on paranoia. But somewhere in his mind, there's a little voice saying that Alex, this may be the coolest thing ever.]

[He immediately feels like an idiot for saying the name aloud. Pikachu's not real. But not-real Pikachu is right there on the screen communicating with him, soooo...]
