You're kidding me with this.

Dear Mr. ProtheroI'm electing a President, not a pastor. And I would a hell of a lot rather vote for someone who's been going to the Mormon church all his life than someone who's been going to Rev. Wright's church. At least the Mormon church is not going to scream "God damn America" at me. The LDS people may not share a few tenets of my faith (and ( Read more... )

It's just awesome how the knee-jerk reaction is to scream "HYPOCRISY" rather than actually, you know, ask someone why they're voting the way they are. They'd rather go on the attack instead of make a bare pretense of trying to understand.

And they call us the intolerant ones.

Exactly! Did you see the vid of the Romney rally at Red Rocks? Amazing! Definitely the best ad of the season.

I'll just be happy when the ads are done. I am so tired of Silly Season. And feeling attacked at every turn.

It’s not surprising, actually. Those who have no religion - or whose ‘religion’ is liberalism/progressivism/socialism/statism - equate religious belief with bigotry and intolerance … and thus have no way of understanding how one set of bigots can agree with and support a competing set of bigots.

Are these same people equally mystified by how fervently evangelical Christians support Israel? It’s not that complicated. People who believe in something, even when those beliefs disagree, have more in common with each other than with people who believe in nothing.

(Except when, as with fundamentalist Islam, the belief system requires the conquest or butchery of anyone who isn’t a member.)

Pretty much.

I'm just glad that it doesn't look like evangelicals are going to sit this one out like we did the last one. And I hope the Dems get a very unpleasant shock come Tuesday night.

I'm not counting on anything, though.

Yeah, one of my brother's friends is waffling, in spite of the fact that he really doesn't like Obama, due to the fact that Romney's a Mormon. Bro keeps telling him, "You're electing a president, not a religious leader."

For me, if we're going to bring actual religion into it at all, it's the difference between a guy who goes to a church that loves America, versus a guy who goes to (or, if he's not attending anymore, he went to it for twenty years and apparently had no problem with it) a church that hates America.

It's really not that hard.

I'm thinking about making an "icky Christian cooties" icon, but until I have one, let's just have one of... some guy. Possibly praying. (This is me, in case you missed the memo. :D )
