we get together with other writers face-to-face.
As you know if you've been reading this for any amount of time whatsoever, I've been flailing around looking for a Main Villain for the new!Ben&JanniStory. Last night, I brought up to my Writing Buddy that here I am, 75K words in, and I have no idea who it is yet. I said that it should probably arise from the last book, because Continuity is a Beautiful Thing.
If you recall, my Main Villain in the last thing had a nephew whom he "raised as a son." He'd promised his brother that he'd take care of him. I'd always assumed the brother was dead, although I never actually stated so in the story.
Turns out he's not. *evil laughter* And thus is born my New Villain.
Ben...killed both the nephew and the Main Villain in the not!kkbb/im novelthing. Thus giving my New Villain built-in motivation to want to damage him in the worst way possible. And if the reason Ostheim needed to raise the nephew was because the brother was on the Prison Island...and he's the only one who's ever escaped from it and lived (that anyone knows about)...
He would know exactly how things worked there. If Ostheim kept any sort of records, he'd know what Ben's buttons are, and how hard they'd get pushed if he ended up on the vampire side.
What's that sound? Why, I believe that's the sound of my Endgame Coming Together.
