Imagine if the art museum had nothing in it - or that its displays were all merely so many grey foam blocks. Ignoring how weird that would be, how then would you describe the place? Spotlit gloom and echoing shadows, floorboards underfoot and ductwork overhead. Unless the artwork has some direct connection to the story, ignore it. Keith Laumer once described a place as having "wallpaper that was someone's revenge for life's disappointments." That was all he said - and all that was needed!
