*taps LJ* Is this thing on?

Um...hi! Yeah, haven't updated in awhile. It's not that there hasn't been anything going on, it's more like too much has been going on. And I have icons to post too, but I may wait on that until I have the "Undercaffeinated and cranky" ones done.

The visit with the HubbyMom went swimmingly, for the most part. Unfortunately, the attempt to get her hooked on "Firefly" failed miserably. Maybe if I had, you know, explained the concept of the show to her, instead of just tossing her headfirst into "Serenity Part One and Part Two," it would have gone better.

She's not really into sci-fi at all, and she thought that "nothing happened" during most of the first half of the pilot. And of course, the purpose of a pilot is to introduce the characters to you...and when you have nine of them, it takes some time. Plus, Joss is going to take some time to develop those characters, which might happen at the expense of "action"--and he's not going to hand the whole thing to you on a silver platter. This is not mindless entertainment; you have to engage your brain here. Ah well.

They have a Bug Museum just south of Colorado Springs, and we paid it a visit. Dude, that was SO COOL. Basically, three generations of guys traveled the world collecting various insects, and then they put together a bunch of displays of the more spectacular ones and opened it up to the public. Some of those insects are a hundred years old. Anyone in the area, pay that place a visit; it's well worth it. It's not just butterflies (which are beautiful), but there's moths, beetles, bugs, cicadas, spiders, scorpions, praying mantises... Case upon case of insecty goodness. It's called the May Natural History Museum.

After we finished our visit with the HubbyMom, we drove out to Cedar City to look at a Dodge Durango that was up on eBay. The Hubby's been considering selling the Willys Wagon and getting something a bit more comfortable and functional (*sob*), and this one caught his eye. It was absolutely gorgeous, but after driving it, he decided that it wasn't his cup of tea, so he didn't bid on it. Which makes me happy and sad at the same time.

I finished the "Threesome with a Twist" fic for the second wave of soundingsea's UnFicathon. I stuck it up at crit_sans_lube if anyone wants to take a hack at it for me. Be as harsh as you like. It didn't come out at all the way I intended it.
