[And, someone's happily walking back from the game shop to his room (window shopping in the DR is one of his favourite pastimes). Seriously, he's having a great afternoon. Peaceful, tranquil, not a single encounter with-
A Ring Spirit. Brooklime isn't familiar enough with Thief Kings to notice anything out of the ordinary, and he's far too used to dragons by this point to see that one as unusual...
So he'll attempt to hurry past as quickly as is possible.]
[You can pretty much watch his expression turn from 'politely exasperated' to 'why is the world not making sense' with 'Lime is a terrible nickname' somewhere in between.
"Nn... If you say so..." He's not really going to bother questioning what is and isn't possible here. "But that's not the point... You..." Ohgod, is he ANGRY??
...Nope. "Now I can thank you for what you said during the time I 'was' here..!" Well. He doesn't sound angry at least.
It might be good to note that he is wearing gold that doesn't look like it's been stolen around at all and-
[No no no you can't have found out the truth that's not allowed to happen that's not allowed to-
Oh. But, Brooklime's expressions being as readable as they are, it's fairly obvious you said something...
Weakly,] What did I say?
[Can it be he actually made any difference at all? Evidently not, because- Voice suddenly a little less open, and a little more his usual 'Ring spirit' tone:] ...And where did you get that?
Pity the war isn't won for another few thousand years. :UagildedcloakNovember 25 2011, 20:23:48 UTC
"You're the one who said 'find another way in'," he says almost matter-of-factly. "Because of that, when I tried to spite you, I was able to find out the truth..! Brooklime... We were both wrong- the Pharaoh wasn't the culprit..! He didn't even realize where the items came from; but, because of the fact that I was able to give the Pharaoh these words, the real culprit, the High Priest...!"
Annnd you probably have no clue what he's going on about. Oh well. "We're at war now... 'Light against Darkness'; currently, the goal is to get the items out of the enemy's hands... that's where this ring came from," he continues. "And when the war is won, and all the items are in our possession, they'll be destroyed as they should." And of that, he's certain.
You didn't listen to me at all? [Way to save the world, Brooklime.] And the Pharaoh wasn't- what? [But that's... not true. Also, you've ceased making sense. At all.]
I don't- quite understand. [That is an understatement. He looks completely lost.] But, Nel, you can't wear that Ring- nothing good comes of it- [And for all he knows, this is exactly how you end up trapped in it.]
He gives Brooklime a dry look. "You know what I was like as a kid, use common sense..." In other words, no. No he didn't. "And I tried to get in the palace earlier- but I got caught. Not the point..." As he shakes his head.
"The Pharaoh didn't order the creation of the Millennium items as dark objects; he only knew that they were powerful and likely the only thing that could stop the invading kingdoms from the south- my guess is that the pharaoh in your world was probably taken by the darkness in the items because of that..." Though perhaps that was the Prince...
Anyways! He just realized you're worried (late 'Nel', late.)... So. "Ah- Don't worry about the ring though," he adds with a grin. "We've set up a lot of precautions against the stuff inside them; my shadow... He's pretty good about that kind of thing, so it's nothing to worry about!"
Dragon's nodding in agreement, though that might be misleading- given that Dragon isn't his shadow and all.
[That moderately overwhelmed look is fading. Slowly.
...Okay, so it's not really fading much at all. But.] You're safe, now? And you said that your side was doing well, in- the war? [Confused, but happy.]
I'm glad- I mean, thought I'd never know how things went, in your world. It's good that things have almost been resolved. [That's his offhand, self-conscious way of saying he's glad you're here.]

Awww, you care~
Not that he ever thought you didn't. But.
He nods, though it seems a bit less than happy. "More or less- though we won the last battle... The Pharaoh fell. Just moments before I came in here it was announced that the throne would go to his son." He pauses. "...Atem... He's fourteen, so he's obviously eligible but..."
What secrets thread? *shifty eyes*indarknessboundNovember 25 2011, 21:09:41 UTC
[...Sorry if he can't be as unhappy about that as he'd like.
To be fair, he's just as happy because you don't appear to be about to antagonise some innocent host as because you've grown up okay, Nel. Not that he isn't - against all odds - growing somewhat attached. But then, you don't need to know any of that.]
Is that what you were arguing about? The new Pharaoh? Fourteen's not too young [in your time]- I'm sure he'll be fine. [Subtle subject change, that.]

With some trepidation,] Do I know you?

Dragon gives a huff, as though to say 'this IS brooklime you fool, just read the nametag..!'

[Was that hopeful, apprehensive, slightly terrified plea enough for you?]

"AH- Brooklime..!?"
You'll notice though Brooklime, that his tag says 'Nelumbo - Lilium'. Probably to save you the confusion (despite it not working).

[How are you. What. Just- what? You're not evil, right?]
I don't understand - you're still here, aren't you? I mean, younger you? Nel?

At least he's cheerier/less bratty now?

Evidently this fool got too attached.

That smile looks forced. "Yea. ...Right. ..."
Dragon's grinning rather triumphantly...
"You're worse than the dragon..."
