Tax Return Woes

Apr 03, 2008 21:36

I'm embarrassed to say I've made a mistake on my tax returns for three years running now.  Each year, the IRS shows me, in vague terms, where I went wrong.  The first year I took the wrong deduction, so it was significant, but the last two years have been small amounts for different reasons.

I try to be thorough, but I can never seem to get it perfect, and they are only getting more complex every year.  Of course, I don't try that hard, because the IRS apparently doesn't actually need your tax return to calculate this (which begs the question...), and the only penalty for getting it wrong is that you get a nastygram.

Does anyone else have this problem?
