So, yeah. Our archaeology class went on a trip yesterday afternoon to a state park nearby to look at stratigraphy and the sediments that had filled in behind a dam that had been in the area until about 25 years ago. It was the hottest day we'd had all year, so I was expecting to hate myself and everyone around me for three hours, but it was excellent, honestly, despite the face-planting and the thornbushes. The riding back to college soaked to the waist was my own damn fault, but wading through the river was absolutely lovely, and I didn't lose my cell phone like I thought I might. Maybe I should bring people back there.
Also, have never seen a natural spring before (which is probably what that was, though the geology professor with us wasn't quite sure...?). And no sunburn. It was a good day.
