If you guessed Neville, then we've obviously had a chat (or a thousand) about this, because I know I never talk about my favorite characters without mentioning him. I liked him from the very beginning, and my love for him has just grown over the years. In fact, I LOVE his character arc. I love his bumbling and forgetfulness in the beginning, how painfully shy he is, how awkward he is... I love how even though he's all those things, he still stands up to Draco and the trio. I love how he asked Hermione to the Yule Ball, and when she said no, he turned right around and asked Ginny. I cry like a baby every time I read the gum-wrapper scene, and I cheer like a proud momma when climbs up on the Thestral and flies to London to help Harry. And then in DH... I can't even begin to tell you how happy I was that he made it through alive. And then to learn that he'd been helping Ginny and Luna lead the resistance while Harry et al were out Horcrux hunting...and then to see him stand up to Voldemort like that! It was a Neville fangirl's dream come true. :)
That said, HP wouldn't be HP without...HP. Harry is very near and dear to my heart. He captured my imagination like crazy, in the very beginning. If I didn't like him, I never would've kept reading the series. I love that he was flawed, that he's a reluctant hero, but he still fights anyway. I love that, even after everything he went through, he was still able to love and forgive. I don't think I'll ever, ever forget him walking into that forest, and the way my heart just lodged in my throat and how I cheered when he came out alive.
And I can't leave out Ron (♥) and Ginny (♥ ♥) or Molly (wonderful Molly, who took a poor orphan boy in, even if it meant putting her family in danger--"He's as good as!" ♥ x infinity).
