baby steps and Green Lantern

Today was a busy day so far.  I had physiotherapy - and got a letter from the PT that says I can push and pull up to 50 lbs, have full range of motion and my shoulder is improving and I should be capable of the demands of an RPN.  Take that, doc!  Hopefully it will be enough to counteract the doctor's letter.  I am a bit sore, though.  I did tricep pull-downs and bicep curls with 50lbs until my shoulder got shaky.  I managed 17 of one and 15 of the other and 10 wall-pushups and also bicep curls with 10 lbs of free weight.  AND I did my normal physiotherapy exercises before going to town this morning.  Ow.  But it is muscle-fatigue burny ow, not the radiating pain ow that I used to have.  I'm going to have to continue working on it on my own as I'm being discharged from physio by July 8 as they lost a pysiotherapist and are shorter handed.  I am pleased with my progress.

The jello experiment was a fail.  The small molds did not work.  The smallish silicone baking cups worked as long as you leave the jello in the cup.  Oh well, I tried it.

Today I feel like making another culinary experiment.  I am going to try making butter coconut mochi and mochiko chicken for our bentos this week.  First round of mochi is going to be made with sugar as I have no idea what the texture will be.  The second batch (maybe not today) will be with a combination of splenda and fructose to see if I cna make it without sugar and see how they compare.  It may take some experimentation.

On the weekend my son and I went to see Green Lantern.  They did a really good job with the movie.  Part I was not certain about is how they portrayed Hal Jordan as being really irresponsible - my brother who was the one who followed JLA, but I read some, and always had the impression, he was very responsible, but then this was an origin, so anything is possible.  It was a good movie.

Fathers day went well.  Took Dad out for breakfast.  He enjoyed it.  My sons take on whether or not he was going to call his Dad was Oops buddy, I forgot.  I think mom convinced him to call eventually.   Not that I blame the kid.
