Everything has been busy lately - between physio, karate and job hunting. Last week a lot of time was spent on tournament prep. I made a new haori for my son and a new kimono for myself and finally put together the haori for myself that was cut out approximately 5 years ago and has been sitting in a bag in the corner of the sewing room waiting for me to have time to get to it.
The tournament went well. It may be my last interclub tournament as a competitor. With any luck, by the time the next one rolls around, I'll be one of the judges. I placed third in ladies kumite. My son placed third in team kata, boy's kata and kumite, so he did very well. There was a really good pot luck and we weren't the only ones who had brought costumes this time.
Mother's day was good. We did breakfast out, and my don got me an arm chair that I am really enjoying. The cats love it - There's a footstool, so when I sit to read and put my legs up, both of them can curl up on my lap and get pettings.
Since the furnace has been turned off at the beginning of the month, Vanessa has been less snuffly. I am going to have to get something done with it in the fall. Time for a new furnace repairman as the last guy couldn't figure out what was wrong - told me nothing was wrong and he couldn't smell anything, when the diesel smell every time the furnace started was soo bad I was actually nauseous. His adjustments that did make the smell go away only lasted about a month. Nessis has had the rash come back on her belly, but I've got lots of salve left. I am going to maybe stop giving them the wet food - that is when she started getting the rashes. It's a catch-22 situation as the vets recommended the wet food for hairball prevention, but I don't like the rash.
Have to take Mom in this afternoon for a doctor's appointment. She was going to a private therapy clinic for tendonitis of the achilles tendon on the right leg and the idiot therapist (lots of reasons for my opinion) decided to do a deep tissue massage on the left leg and Mom's been hardly able to walk on it ever since - she damaged something and shouldn't have even been messing around with that leg. And I would love to know what core strength/abdominal exercises have to do with the achilles tendon. I have strongly suggested she get a referral to the hospital PT department. Yes they have a long waiting list, a m onth or more, but they are good. I am very pleased with the therapy I am getting. If she had gone with the hospital in the first place, she might be in better shape at the moment.
Nothing yet on the job front - it is the season of student jobs.
