accidental video;
Oh, I see. I get it. This is a cultural thing, ain't it?! Y'all are coming down on me for being a geek, right? Cause y'all think we can't fight back or something. Ain't got any evidence, just figure oh someone hacked some accounts, let's round up the geek!
[Rebecca, however, is accompanying Chris on this house visit and she comes into frame carrying Hardison's main hard drive.]
You can discuss the evidence when we get to the station. [She glances at Chris and just knows he hasn't read Hardison his rights] I have to advise you; you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you during the determination of your sentence. You have the right to a-- representative while being questioned. If you can not afford or locate a representative one will be appointed to you. Do you understand these rights? [She had improvised, tweaking the Miranda rights a bit for the City. As they had no court of law nor any lawyers.
Naturally, Chris has been staring at Rebecca slightly slack-jawed while she's been going through the long list of things. That....might be how it goes? Here? He manages to pull himself together only a few seconds after she's finished.] Oh, yeah, that. I were just...gettin' there... [Which, naturally, is a complete lie.
Hardison realizes that he's not getting away from this one, and he turns quickly from trying to squirm out and attract attention for nothing to very serious. He's partly telling the truth here, but he can't really say he's done nothing wrong, either. And there's not really any way out, unfortunately. Not when you're dealing with AI and aliens and things far beyond even Hardison's scope when it comes to system hacking.]
Nah, you got the wrong guy. That's not my stuff, look, someone's setting me up, I swear. Not mine... not mine, either. Okay well that's got my name on it but they probably just did it. Y'know, detail and all that.
Tell it to...well, not th' judge, I s'pose. [The wind is taken slightly out of Chris' sails again.] Bring it up in questioning anyway. [There's a brief awkward pause where Chris glances a little shiftily between Hardison and Rebecca, trying to work out what happens now and then he just reverts to what he knows how to do.] You're nicked!
[Then, Chris turns him around and start to fasten the cuffs around his wrists. Hardison keeps protesting, pulling back a little until Chris gives him a good shove toward the door. He snaps out of it a bit, his face drawing blank and shutting up as he's lead toward it, coming face to face with his friend and roommate as he comes back from who knows what trouble, Eliot. There's a moment shared between them, easy to miss-- Eliot cases the cops, smirks. Hardison barely shakes his head, and the smirk is gone.]
Playin' it a little rough for a skinny guy and his laptop with nowhere to run away to. Looks like over the top police brutality to me. [Eliot shrugs with an air of both nonchalance and feigned innocence. Veiled threat of calling foul with a smear campaign, what? But if Hardison isn't going to let him beat these guys unconscious then he'll have to find another way to get him out of this mess.] Just sayin'...what'd he do?
You'll find out with everyone else.
Formal charges will be issued at the station and then released to the public.
[And that's that; there's a charged moment where everyone is pretty sure that Eliot's not going to move aside, but it passes, and Hardison can't make eye contact with him as he's moved through his own door. Rebecca follows with the evidence in hand when she spots Hardison's device and reaches out to turn it off and shove it in her pocket.]
[ooc: Hardison's off to jail!
cant_just_hang and
justcautious are making the arrest and taking some equipment for evidence,
a_bad_guy's crossing paths, while Hardison tries to keep him from bashing both of their heads in. Replies from Hardison will be after a few hours pass, he's processed and given his device sans filters. In addition, he'll have been hit with his deity punishment.]
