I have been having a lot of random adventures lately (what, with 2am weeknight Elgin Street Diner outings, impromptu sleepovers, and skating on the Canal FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!). All I planned to do tonight was catch up on laundry and get groceries. Instead, there were some ridiculous and random and totally unplanned adventures. Today was all ( Read more... )

have you seen the movie 'love that boy'?
the way the girl dresses and decorates her house reminds me of you
i don't think you're neurotic like she is though

Whoa, the picture isn't working but after some research I've realized that the girl in question is Nadia Litz, who months&months ago Layla also told me I looked like! So weird!

And Layla also assured me that I'm not neurotic like she is. I sure hope you're both right!

I would just like to state that I brought this up with Brandy (or maybe Paul...?) many, many months ago as well. I watched it and she definitely reminded me (what I have seen) of you, as in her way of dress and style.
I just assumed you weren’t as neurotic because really, it would be difficult.

Whoa, that's so weird! I think I need to watch this movie. I've only seen her pictures on google image search and from them I totally don't see the resemblance. But you are the fifth person to tell me as much, so I kind of think there must be something to it that internet photos just don't capture.

The exact same thing happened to me when Ghost World came out, but I think any pale girl with dark hair & glasses is doomed to Thora Birch As Enid comparisons forevermore.

Hmmm...I don’t really see the Thora Birch connection, she’s not cute enough. The things about Phoebe (Nadia Litz) that made it work are her personal style/fashion in the movie, and she’s got this intellectual thing going on that (coupled with her style) made me think of you when I saw it.

I’ll admit to not really knowing you, but for some reason I think you would really dig this movie. It’s really quite charming.

Not cute enough?! Well, thank you first of all, but second of all, you don't think she's adorable? I think she has such a cute little baby face! I don't see any similarities between us in facial structure or body shape (ie her ample bosom!), but I guess in high school my personality maybe wasn't entirely unlike Enid's (unfortunately!) which is probably where things stemmed from. And the dark hair / paleness / glasses didn't hurt either, I'm sure.

I think that (consciously or subconsciously) a big part of the reason people think of me in the context of this movie might be because it's set in Halifax, is it not? But anyway, the fact that you used the word "charming" to describe it solidifies my opinion that I would enjoy it, although to be honest, the Halifax connection and supersmart girl main character would probably have been enough to sell me on it already!

I completely forgot that it was set in Halifax! But you're right, it is set back east, so that will just give you one more reason to like it.

I’ll give you that Thora is cute, or adorable. However I just don’t really see the connection between you two. You’re just prettier I think, and it doesn’t help that (I think) I ended up resenting Enid in Ghost World because I don’t really like how her character chose to react to the situations she was put it. So when everyone else I know saw it and fell in love with her, I kind of empathized more with Rebecca (but probably just she wasn’t Enid).

Anyhow, yeah…later

Oh yeah, would it be okay, do you think maybe, if I added you to my friends list?

Ehhh, everyone just likes Enid because she makes sullen, withdrawn, hateful, angsty teenagers feel like they're they're so edgy and hip and smart. It's the whole, "we're like this because we're too interesting for anyone else to appreciate" thing. In retrospect I hate that movies like Ghost World allowed me to form that kind of perspective on things, because it allowed me to legitimize being this resentful person who thought everyone around me was so boring and stifling to the unbridled intellectual maturity I would have otherwise attained. So I totally empathize with why you'd like Rebecca for being "not Enid", because I think the way I related to Enid's character is really not uncommon for a lot of nerdy teenaged girls.

Lame!

Anyway, OF COURSE IT WOULD BE OKAY! But only if it's okay that I'm going to add you back too! Also, I haven't seen you around in a zillion years! Like, since the summer probably? Geez!

I think halloween was probably the last time I saw you. I think you were at halloween hardcore were you not? I was going to go to psp with Tasha, Mimi and I believe yourself a few weeks back, but I was traped in my house...sad. but I'm sure we're bound to run into one anohter some time.

Also, I'm pretty sure that its a given that adding me would be okay.
