Do any other East coast kids get a homesick feeling when you're away and pass by the seafood section in the supermarket ( Read more... )

I love salty smells, and know exactly the smell you're talking about! It also seems to coincide with the time you start to dry off and you realize that you have tons of sand wedged inside your bathing suit. Teehee! That's one thing about the beach that I DON'T miss!

I find that I actually eat a ton of salt since moving to Ottawa? It's weird. Maybe I'm trying to compensate for the lack of salt smell in the air? Maybe I'm so sad about living away from the ocean that I'm subconsciously trying to make my blood pressure so insane and end it all :( Okay, I hope it's not about that!

Mic Mac Mall has terrible memories for me, mostly because it was always so crowded and full of obnoxious teenagers. Of course, during times when I was an obnoxious teenager, I thought it was just the best place ever! Also, that little bites of lobster thing is just so cute. I have visions of you as a wee one standing with your mouth agape like a hungry little guppy waiting for bits of lobster. Aww!

Also, I love that other people have such attachment to Sobeys! They always had the best vending machines which is why I liked them so much as a child. One of their vending machines was this AMAZING chicken that would go CLUCK CLUCK! and bop up and down until it "layed" a plastic egg full of some kind of junky plasticy thing. That chicken was so awesome!

If you also imagine me tugging on my nanny's apron you would have an acurate picture!
The orange and green sobeys colours are such a memory trigger. When I moved here I always wondered why we never went to sobeys anymore.

Aww! Little kitchen memories are such happy memories!

Also, apparently there are one or two Sobeys' in Ottawa! One in Kanata and one in... the East end somewhere maybe? I don't know. I want to find them and go and stand in the seafood section and proclaim "I'M HOME!!!"
