Character's Name: Dominic Sorel

Timeline: Just after episode 48, when he manages to find Anemone. So basically he’s going to fall into the Disco. :|

Personality: At the beginning of the series, Dominic is still very much under the control of Dewey. The manga canon shows that the two met just after Dominic lost his family during the Summer of Love. Dominic is very involved in his role, carrying out his tasks diligently. He’s dedicated and loyal to his superior. However, throughout the series, he becomes more and more wary of Dewey and his motivations, particularly his behaviour towards Anemone. It’s as he loses this belief that his character grows outside of his military role.
Growing up in the military has had an obvious impact on Dominic’s personality, he’s serious and spends a lot of his time just thinking, often in an attempt to try and understand something. He clearly dislikes being left in the dark, regularly demanding information from people, especially if it’s something he thinks he should know about, i.e. Anemone. Dominic’s position mainly revolved around field work, doing investigations and field missions for Dewey.
However, his main role was the care of Anemone. Assigned to look after her from a young age, he grew up around her and it was him who named her “Anemone” after he brought her a flower. Their relationship is pretty much the reason for most of his actions within the series. He strives to protect from everything and anything, even if she doesn’t want him to. She regularly lashes out to hurt him, she screams at him and generally most of what he gets from her is abuse. However, the relationship is based on a mutual dependence. She relies on him to give her medicine and to be there and he relies on her to make him feel like himself. She’s the single most important thing in his life.
There are instances where Dominic acts on his own, ignoring orders all for the purpose of helping Anemone. In one episode, he leaves the Izumo to find medicine for her, giving him his only face-to-face encounter with Renton in the entire series.
Dominic is well aware that a lot of the people he works with look on him as a child, due to his age and becoming the youngest second Lieutenant in the U.F. Force. He strives to prove himself constantly to Dewey, to Anemone and later on, to the Gekko State. He’s pretty easy to rile up if people know what buttons to press. Dominic occasionally seems to speak before he talks, causing himself embarrassment, especially if he feels he’s said something particularly childish.
What your character can offer: He’s relatively fit, has a good sense of logic and is intelligent. However, he cannot read maps at all, leading him to regularly get pretty lost. Renton has called him a “genuine idiot” on two separate occasions, just because of this and coming from Renton that’s pretty insulting. He’s too stubborn to ask for help though so will continue getting lost for the rest of his days.

Anemone! Anemone! She has to be… I can’t have lost her. Not now! Anemone, where are you?! [ The broadcast suddenly cuts to video, showing just the ground underneath him as he runs. Where he’s heading he has no idea but anything is better than sitting around when she could be in danger. ] U-uh--!
This is Lieutenant Dominic Sorel. I… I have no idea where I am right now, but I’m looking for [ He pauses to catch his breath. ] someone. Her name is Anemone and it’s crucial that I find her. If you have any information regarding her whereabouts, report to me.
Thank you. [ The feed cuts out. ]

[The single word is eventually followed by someone shifting their weight to pull themselves off the ground, grabbing the communicator as they go.] I suppose it can’t hurt to try… [He clears his throat before addressing the network.]
