The grass is always greener...
So, quite suddenly, today is the day... The last day I will ever be in this library. They close the downtown branch of MPL on Friday and in a month, the temporary branch opens which will carry us through the two years it will take to build our new library.
This place is dreadful. It's skanky and ill equipped and I can't think of one day I've ever spent here that I actually *enjoyed*. I don't object in any way whatsoever to tearing it down. Even as I type I feel wildly uncomfortable as it's pretty much just me and 30 scary, creepy homeless men who keep making passes past my table, eyeing me.
And yet, this place has been a second home to me for almost 20 years. It's a huge chapter in my book of memories.
I've pretty much been crying since I got here an hour ago. I will never be here again. Never. It's really, really sad.
