This week hasn't gone anywhere near where I expected it to crafty-wise...
When I nipped into the bead store the other day, I saw these beads... Which I thought would make really awesome picture frames. They did! They are colored mother of pearl - The large one is 1" high, the small 3/4".
I made the backs out of black card stock and cardboard. Clearly, I need a mini-maid - WHERE DID ALL THAT FRICKIN CAT HAIR COME FROM???
In that shopping binge a few weeks ago, I found several unpainted boxes at Michaels that I thought would work well as end tables - I painted one black (not shown) and this set I tried to stain... With *MISERABLE* results. I mean, they look dreadful in person! By the time I'd done what I could to fix them up, I'd convinced myself they were useable (in the right light.) I can *almost* pretend I meant them to look old and beat up... Almost. The cool thing about these boxes are they are really photo holders... Where I've inserted bamboo panels, I can swap in just about *anything* (fabric, panels, color printouts) making them different in each diorama I set up.
I also picked up a couple of sets of door stoppers from the hardware store and a dozen napkin rings from various bargain bins... These make fabulous mix-and-match lamps. At some point, I'll photograph some of the variations - Here I have used the silver door stoppers with the plastic "crystal" napkin rings I got a whole set of at the thrift store for a quarter!
In process... Books. Lots, and lots of books. I'm spending far too much time on it. Pictures when done.
