How can I call myself a fangirl???

Aug 30, 2005 22:17

So, I'm prowling around Wikipedia and I am flabbergasted to learn that Terry Woods of the Pogues STARTED OUT IN STEELEYE SPAN. The Pogues, people, are on that list... The list of '5 things that shaped your whole life and made you the person you are today'.

If that wasn't enough to strip me of my fangirl status, another little tidbit: The band reunited to do 9 shows in the UK in December 2004 and 3 in July 2005 in Japan. Shit. Fuck. Shitfuck. I would have taken out a loan and flown to England on the spot, had I known.

In 2002 Q magazine named The Pogues as one of the "50 Bands To See Before You Die".

Well, I gain a few points back on that one... Sort of. I did get to see them - Only it was a few months after Shane departed - HOWEVER Joe Strummer was filling in at that point which is almost as significant. He started shouting at the pit guards who were dragging the guy out who was hitting me in the head during the concert. Joe has this THING about pit guards dragging people out and started flipping out which was a little off because the guy in question really was in danger of hurting me pretty bad. But all the fuss was because of me which was super cool! I'm evil that way. ;-)

And did I mention how old I felt at IrishFest? Well, the fact that Joe Strummer AND Kirsty McColl are both dead already doesn't help much.

Edit: OMG they got old!!! Spider got big - James got bald. :::giggle::: Clearly I have to start reading the website on a regular basis, they are active again! No chance of getting to Spain this weekend, but I'll bet there are going to be more concerts comming!!! :::squee:::
