Since I do have interests other than politics (even though my brain has been hijacked by politics the last couple of weeks), I thought I would write about that. Especially since the GOP is conspiring to give me an anuerism before November 4th.
This weekend has been a good one, notwithstanding the rain yesterday and TOM BRADY GETTING FUCKING INJURED 15 MINUTES INTO THE SEASON. Ahem. But outside of those, I can't complain too loudly. I mean, the Red Sox are only 1 1/2 games behind the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the AL East. Just typing that makes me feel dirty because the Ray are supposed to suck.
I slept in yesterday, and basically just bummed around the house until my mom and I decided to out to an early dinner together. We went to
Judie's, which is a great restaurant in Amherst, MA. As good as it is, we don't go there very often because there are often long lines, and the place doesn't take reservations. I had a ginger martini (YUMMY), a cup of the soup of the day (something Indonesian with peanuts and chicken),
the turkey "pop" pie dinner (and seriously, the popover's are like HUGE), and a slice of red velvet cake for dessert.
Then today, Mom and I spent the day together doing shopping type things. We went to Bed Bath & Beyond, the headed to the mall where William & Sonoma just opened (I can't even begin to express how excited I am about this). Of course, outside the mall, my mom runs into someone she knows and proceeds to yak for WELL OVER AN HOUR. However, we eventually got in, and I was just in HEAVEN. I pointed out a few things I would REALLY like, so hopefully I may get a couple for my birthday. The bad thing: with W&S so close, I am totally going to be in there all the time salivating over cookware. I can just see myself spending shitloads of cash in there. WOE.
From there we went to Costco, and then we made a quick stop at Michael's where my mom was looking for some game, but didn't find it. Instead she ended up buying these little plastic figurines for her teachers to use with the kids who are leaning English. I got something for myself: a needlepoint project. I know, it's kind of lame, but I'm going to make it and give it to someone. It's a little beachy scene.
We finally get home, and then I had to go out to Target because I managed to run out of a bunch of things all at the same time. Of course, because it's Target, I bought a bunch of things that were NOT on my list. Including one of
my favorite movies EVAR, a new romance novel, and a CD.
I have already
downloaded it onto my iPod, and I totally would totally let John Legend do very dirty things to me. For serious, that VOICE could convince me to do things that would probably get me arrested in nineteen states. I doesn't help he's a super smart guy AND a Barack Obama supporter. Bestill my heart, a girl can only resist so much.
OK, off to do laundry, otherwise I will not have much to wear tomorrow at work.
